30th Annual Zydeco Festival

Zydeco Park in Plaisance, Louisiana, will once again be the site of the 30th Annual Zydeco Festival on September 1st and 2nd, 2012. Creole music and culture will be celebrated in various ways during the two-day festival – Zydeco King and Queen Ball, fun run, parade, jam session, Zydeco breakfast and, of course, lots of Zydeco bands and music. Thirty years ago, in an effort to keep the tradition of Creole and Zydeo music from dying out, the “Treasures of Opelousas” organized the Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Music Festival. From the first festival celebrated in a farmer’s field to the festival of today, which is the world’s largest Zydeco Music Festival, Zydeco music is alive and well.

Country Ridge Bed and Breakfast, in Opelousas, Louisiana, is located only six miles from the festival grounds. Nestled on spacious property against the backdrop of relaxing music, aesthetic landscaping, galloping horses, and more, it offers a quiet, serene setting after a day of festival activities.
